Start by heating 1/4 cup of oil in the pan. When it's hot, add the onions and cook until they're lightly browned.

Next, stir in the ginger-garlic paste and cook until fragrant, about 2 minutes. Then, add the tomatoes and 2 tablespoons of water. Cover the pan to let the tomatoes soften.

Sprinkle in the tikka masala and sauté for 2 minutes, then stir in the yogurt until well combined. Add the chicken and cook for 10 minutes, stirring occasionally. Cover the pan and let it simmer for another 10 minutes until the chicken is tender.

Next, pour the chicken mixture into the boiling pot. Wipe out the pan and add oil and water. Simmer until the water comes to a boil.

Add the rice to the pot. When it's 80% cooked, layer on the chicken mixture and sprinkle with fresh cilantro. Steam on low heat for 15 minutes

Five minutes into steaming, uncover the pot. Garnish with fresh cilantro and lemon slices. Your delicious chicken biryani is now ready to serve!
